in recent years, many people rave about "The Secret" - the movie and the book.
Many people do NOT realise that the Law of Attraction was mentioned/taught in the "Think and Grow Rich" published by Napoleon Hill in 1937.

Below is someone sharing this FACT in internet:
Napoleon Hill and Think and Grow Rich
Napoleon Hill offers so many hidden insights, that this book can be read and re-read with great satisfaction, many, many times. There are many teachers of the Law of Attraction who credit this book with their success. David Schirmer is one of the teachers in the movie, The Secret who claims that he still reads it once a year. He credits this book with getting him off welfare. We hope that you enjoy our synopsis. We have done our best to include those principles that you most need. Later on, when you have more time, we hope that you will take the time to explore this classic on your own.
Napoleon Hill jumps right in. On page 8 he states, "When Riches begin to come they come so quickly and in such great abundance that one wonders where they have been hiding during all those lean years...." If this interests you, read on.
Napoleon Hill says (on page 11) that our minds "become magnetized with the dominating thoughts we hold in our minds.... These magnets attract to us the forces, the people, the circumstances of life which harmonize with the nature of our dominating thoughts." This is the first principle described by Napoleon Hill.
He describes a man who "thought" himself into a partnership with Thomas Edison and how Henry Ford decided on an eight cylinder engine and set his engineers to the task. They thought it was impossible, but they were eventually inspired with a solution.
Another story was about a little girl, the daughter of a tenant who went to her landlord and told him that her mother needed fifty cents. The landlord responded that he would not give it and even threatened her with a beating with a barrel stave, but she stood her ground without flinching. She just repeated that her mother needed fifty cents. The landlord reached in his pocket and gave her the fifty cents. The nephew of the landlord who witnessed "the strange power of a child" went on to become a million dollar insurance salesman based on the lesson learned -- "Never, never give up." This is true of all successful men.
Napoleon Hill regrets that the average man is all too familiar with all that is impossible. To paraphrase Henry Ford, "Whether you believe it is possible, or it is not, either way you are correct."
